Discover Koko Head Cafe

Koko Head Cafe is a popular breakfast spot located at 1120 12th Ave #100, Honolulu, HI 96816, United States. If you’ve ever visited Hawaii, you know that the island’s vibrant food scene offers an exciting mix of local flavors and global influences. Koko Head Cafe does an excellent job of combining the two, offering a menu that’s both unique and memorable.

One of the standout aspects of Koko Head Cafe is its dedication to reinventing traditional breakfast dishes. The menu is a playful twist on classic brunch items, with a special emphasis on locally sourced ingredients. The cafe is known for its relaxed atmosphere, and the food reflects that laid-back, yet refined, style. You can always count on the menu to surprise you with flavors you won’t find anywhere else in Honolulu.

Take, for example, the famous "Cornflake French Toast." This dish is a crispy, golden masterpiece. The French toast is coated in crunchy cornflakes, adding a sweet and savory texture to each bite. It’s paired with fresh fruit and whipped cream, which balances the richness of the toast. Every time I’ve visited, it’s been an absolute treat-crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The presentation is beautiful, and it’s one of those dishes that makes you want to savor every single bite.

For something with a little more substance, Koko Head Cafe also offers savory options like the "Koko Head Fried Rice." This dish brings together a medley of flavorful ingredients, from perfectly cooked rice to a delicious mix of local vegetables and proteins like spam or Portuguese sausage. The fried rice is a local favorite and one of the cafe’s most requested dishes. It’s a great choice for anyone who prefers a more savory start to their day.

What makes Koko Head Cafe even more remarkable is its ability to maintain high quality while offering such a diverse range of dishes. Whether you’re craving a sweet brunch or something savory and hearty, this cafe delivers both. The space itself feels like a cozy retreat, perfect for enjoying a long, leisurely meal with friends or family.

For those who enjoy a good beverage to accompany their meal, Koko Head Cafe has a solid selection of drinks, including fresh juices and specialty coffee drinks. Their lattes and iced coffees are fantastic, providing the perfect pick-me-up to go along with any meal.

As for the service, I’ve always found the staff to be welcoming and attentive. They create a friendly atmosphere, which makes the experience feel personal rather than rushed. It’s one of the reasons I keep coming back. The restaurant’s location on 12th Ave is also convenient for both locals and tourists, making it an excellent stop after a hike, or just as part of a fun day in Honolulu.

If you’re in the area and craving a memorable breakfast or brunch, I highly recommend visiting Koko Head Cafe. The quality of the food, paired with the cozy ambiance and excellent service, makes it stand out as one of the best spots in Honolulu. Whether you’re a first-time visitor or a regular, you’ll always find something to love on their ever-changing menu. So, make sure to stop by next time you’re in town-your taste buds will thank you!

  • The food is absolutely phenomenal. My new favorite breakfast spot in Oahu. I got the Ohayo Skillet and it melted in my mouth. Hubby got th wagyu steak and eggs. The mushrooms, onions and cheese were a perfect blend in the skillet that I got. I substituted extra mushrooms for the ham. Wagyu steak and eggs came with yummy hash browns. Will definitely be coming back and soon.

  • Great little restaurant serving up unique dishes. Service was great, prices are a little steep but not out of the norm for Hawaii. It’s not easy to walk to from Waikiki but if you’re looking for what seems to be a popular local restaurant, this is the place. Recommend reservations especially for dinner.

  • Chef Lee Anne Wong brings magic to every dish, each brings a unique blend of ingredients and delights! Had the Natty Skillet with crispy ocean rice, fried poki, choi sum, soft scrambled egg and special house pickle trio and the Papa Aina Ramen with Portuguese Sausage, ham, bacon, cheese scallion, nori and a poached egg. We were raving about the dishes so much that forgot to take a photo of the ramen until we were half way through. Fun vibe, the kitchen staff rings a bell whenever they receive a special kitchen tip! Chef Wong also has special dinners which are a treat. Reservations are highly recommended. There is outdoor seating on the lanai
